Update on the Mapua Forest!

We have progress. We have completed the forest and now it is time to add the wharf in. We will have boats and people fishing. We have also started painting the net to go over our forest..... this was a VERY messy job but so much fun. Our room is now covered in green paint and so were we but it was all worth it.

Here is a look at the progress so far. There is more to come!

This is us having fun, singing, dancing and painting away. There was only 7 of us at school, it was a big job!
This is us singing, dancing and cleaning away! OH MY we made a BIG mess! We were covered in paint head to toe. Even Miss Oldham had it everywhere.
This is the finished net. We cannot wait to hang it up over our forest!

Fun in Room 1!

Room 1 has been very busy over the last few weeks doing many exciting things. Here is a quick look at what we have been doing:

Mapua School had a dress up day. Every class had a different decade to dress up in. We dressed up as 80s people! We found out what cloths they wore, what toys they played with and what technology they used. We also made up a dance to present at assembly.... WE ROCKED THE HOUSE!

Room 1 love to play in the big kids play ground. If we are really super dooper awesome we get to get 5mins free time on  it...... we were super dooper awesome last week and we decided to make a train on the big kids playground. It was super fun.

Room 1 is turning our reading corner into Mapua land across time. We are half way there. We first designed our kowhaiwhai patterns, painted them and used them as the back drop. Then we sketched our flax, pine trees, apple trees and native trees and coloured them in with pastel.

Our Next step is pastel birds, painted roads, cars and houses! Watch this space :)
